About Me

Family and community are important to me. I have five children, ranging from age 15 to 37, and five grandchildren (good news, there is a 6th on the way!). They all live here in the qathet Region. I am completely committed to this community, both now and in the future.

My family, father Jack and my siblings, owned and operated Jack’s Boat Yard in Lund up to 2024, when we sold it to wonderful local people. I have lived in this region since 2007, when I moved to live, work, and be closer to my family. While working with Jack’s Boat Yard, I was a project manager for our waterfront expansion, 2 IC for my sister when she needed me, and a Lift Operator lifting boats.

Prior to that I had a career that included the following jobs:

• Regional Economic Development Officer for the Province of BC in the Northwest area of the province.
• Acting Aboriginal Relations Manager for the BC Ministry of Forests in the Prince Rupert Forest Region.
• Treaty Officer, Ministry of Forests, Prince Rupert Region.
• EMA-FA for BC Ambulance in Stewart, BC.
• Aboriginal Relations Manager for Alberta Environment, Central Region, in Red Deer, Alberta.
• Financial Manager for my husband’s logging contractor businesses from 1996 to 2007.
• Past Board member for Powell River Therapeutic Riding Association

I have been a City Councillor since November 2018. In my time on Council, I have been:

• Municipal Director on the qathet Regional District Board
• Vice Chair of the qathet Hospital Board
• Alternate Representative for the Municipal Finance Authority Board
• Alternate Liaison to the Powell River Chamber of Commerce
• Member of Local Government United facilitated by the BC Community Action Initiative
• Appointed to Solid Waste advisory committees
• Member of the Community Action Team
• Liaison to Vancouver Coastal Health local Operations Manager
• Member of the Housing Action Group
• Member of the Community Forest Working Group and Council Representative on the Board
• Member of the Housing Round Table and now the Housing Action Table
• Formerly held the Arts, Culture & Heritage Portfolio
• Member of the Social Action & Planning, Affordable Housing committee
• City Liaison to Community Futures Development Corporation
• Western Stillwater & Island Timberlands, Community Advisory Group Council Liaison Appointee
• Member of the City of Powell River, Tla’Amin Nation Joint Working Group on the Potential Name Change
• Parcel Tax Roll Review Panel
